Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then found numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
